FAQ — Green Coffee for Roasters

What Indonesia origins are best for specialty single-origin roasting?
For specialty single-origin: Gayo Arabica (Aceh, 82–88 SCA) and Toraja Arabica (Sulawesi, 82–86 SCA) are the most sought-after. Flores Arabica is gaining traction in European specialty markets for its clean, washed profile. All three score above 82 SCA and have distinct, marketable terroir stories.
What is the MOQ for roasters ordering from Indonesia?
Our commercial MOQ is 500 kg per origin, shipped via LCL (Less than Container Load). We can combine multiple origins in one LCL shipment — for example, 500 kg Gayo + 500 kg Mandheling = 1,000 kg total, one shipment. Full 20ft container (FCL) starts from ~18,000 kg.
Which Indonesian Robusta is best for espresso blends?
Lampung Robusta Grade 1 is the most widely used Indonesian Robusta for espresso blends globally. It provides strong body, consistent crema, and a price point that makes it a practical blend component. Java Robusta is slightly cleaner and preferred by roasters looking for a more refined Robusta component at a slight premium.
Can I get a sample before placing a commercial order?
Yes, always. We ship 5–10 kg samples by air courier (DHL or FedEx) to any address worldwide. Sample sizes: 1 kg for cupping assessment, 3–5 kg for a trial roast at full batch. Samples include moisture data, defect count, and our cupping notes. Contact us via WhatsApp to arrange a sample.
Do you provide cupping reports or third-party quality certification?
Every order includes our in-house quality data sheet (moisture, defect count, screen size, cupping notes). For specialty lots above Grade 1 requesting third-party cupping scores, we can arrange this with our SCAA-certified cupping partners in Indonesia at an additional fee.
